The Powers That Be

They control who they kill, but they don't give us a reason
Trying to take all the power through violations and treasons
Hiding behind the bullets that they shoot from their guns
Hiding behind false promises they deliver to everyone

When they make the headlines, they stir emotional reactions
That cause people to stand up, speak up, and try to take action
But it's hard to fight the powers when your armor is so heavy
And it's hard to fight the enemy when you aren't sure you're ready

It's a war-zone and it's lined with such forceful brutality
And it's forced people to look at the harshness of reality:
That racism is alive, and it's not in the pages of a book,
And all you need to do is take a good, long look
