Pride

Unemployment, discrimination, protests, distress

All this from a single look at your phone

Politicians' tounges always in a fierce game of chess

One side speaks and a million points to the contrary are shown

All of this tension, the American dream must be dead

While plausible, I think otherwise

My immigrant parents first nights here were spent without a bed

The thought of prosperity never left their eyes

Through hard work they made a living and some

They helped give my siblings and I a better life

This type of convienence could not be enjoyed where they were from

Only in the land of the free can they more than suffice

Yes, a democracy can't be perfect

Theres a lot to work on but the pride one must never forget

This poem is about:
Me
