Quoting Martin Luther King

There comes a point in every young child’s life

When they hear the famous speech “I Had A Dream”

There comes a point in every young child’s life

When they want to become an astronaut or a princess

There comes a point in every young child’s life

When their parents tell them to “chase after your dreams”

There came a point in my young life

When I decided a wanted to become a teacher

I wanted to shout it from every mountain

Every rooftop

I wanted the whole world to know that

I was going to change the world

Because I was going to be someone important

I was going to become the world’s best

Teacher.

There comes a point in every teenager’s life

When they start filling out college applications

There comes a point in every teenager’s life

When their homework is overwhelming and life is complicated

There comes a point in every teenager’s life

When their parents tell them to “get a job”

There came a point in my teenage life

When I did the responsible deed and filled out college applications

I did all my homework and worked hard for good grades

I got a job

All because I knew I had to work towards my goal of becoming the world’s best

Teacher.

I love your intro into this. Very clever. I wrote my poem about wanting to be a (history) teacher too!

Powerful expression!
