To Raise Her

I'm still waiting on that verse to fall
And crack open on my head
Ill clean the gooey mess from my hair
Then condense it into lead
From there ill write a poem
Short, light and sweat
And that baby verse will grow
Until people know what I believe
And she'll spread her wisdom
Up and down the avenue
She'll infect others with passion
Spread courage through and through
And they'll understand her meaning
They'll understand her words
They'll try their best to live selflessly
And believe in life's true worth
So when that day does come
I hope I have the strength to raise
A poem that has the power to move
A poem that has the power to change
