Reaching

The sort of familiar feeling of falling

Envelops me like it's always meant to

An ocean that only goes down

Devoid of light and air and feeling

I find myself reaching

(The surface is miles away)

Out towards you, trying to stay subtle

Keep my cool as you turn away

Cause I'm not desperate for your hand, I just can't

Keep calm in this cold sea of indifference

Faces swimming in and out of focus all around but

Suddenly I'm sinking into solitude

Like my stomach sinks into the sea floor when

Rejection is my anchor

There's no light in the deep but the luminescence

Still somehow here hurts my eyes

Crystallized, I don't even try to swim away

I've drowned down here a million and ten times

I never learn my lesson.
