The Real World (Glow Up Grow Up Slam)

The crowded spaces, loud noises,

tense muscles and numb emotions

all overwhelming my body

and brain. I saw the real struggles.

Pain and suffering of others

began to affect my own self.

I realized at that moment

how small I was physically

out in the real world, cruel and cold,

filled with hatred and violence

used to pit humans against each

other.  Grown up now, I knew I’d

have to face my own struggles and

find my own place to fit in to.

Terrorism and racism,

discrimination and judement

all awaited me in my years

to come. I figured out that

getting and growing older meant

experiencing life and all

its twists and turns and struggles. It

became and adventure I was

willing to go on in hopes of

a future of peace and love to

be shared amongst all the souls of

the world, as I became a part

of it.
