The Realization

As kids we think money grows on a tree,

We think everything in the world is free.

Once you grow up you realize it is not,

Because the amount on the paycheck is just a small dot.

Then we go onto higher education,

In order to be good citizens of this nation.

Realizing once again that things cost money,

And noticing that loan debt is not funny.

So next are scholarships, for which we apply,

Hoping we can get one so our pockets don't run dry.
