Red

Location

Red,

The colour you bleed

As you pour your heart

To the stranger on the bus.

Red,

The colour you bleed

As you pace back and forth

in your bedroom

Contemplating

whether or not you're making

the right decision.

Red,

The colour you bleed

As you put the blade to your wrist.

As you put the gun to your head.

As you put the rope around your neck.

Red,

The colour you bleed

As you say your final goodbyes.

Red,

The colour you bleed

As you let go.

Red,

The colour of your mother's screams

As she finds her baby

Drained of all blood on the bathroom floor.

Brains splattered across the walls of the basement.

Hanging from the ceiling fan in the living room.

Blue,

the colour of your sister's tears.

Blue,

The colour of your father's guilt.

Blue,

The colour of your best friend's sorrow.

Blue,

The colour you family will bleed

As they walk past your bedroom.

Blue,

The colour classmates will bleed

As the walk past your locker.

Blue,

The colour you will be forevermore

Unable to bleed red no more.
