Red, White, Black & Blue

Red, White, Black & Blue,

They steal from us,

from me and you.

They tax our income and systematically oppress,

They tell us what to dream for,

They tell us how to dress.

They create the rules, the fines & regulations,

and expect us to still give friendly salutations.

The soldiers march for their special interests,

Not for freedoms, like everyone says.

But as a lady of knowledge and potential unearthed,

I stand proud of where I was birthed.

I can freely speak and disagree in debate,

And excell through ceiling after ceiling at my own rate.

I am faced with hardships, for I have overcome,

With a huge heart and legs over-run.

I stand proud of my country, despite it's moments of shame,

Everyone here is so beautiful, not one in the same.

I stand proud of my flag, my rights, and the opportunity,

And through acceptance and kindness, it is an embracing community.

But what is awesome HERE, is I don't have to always agree,

But what's most important is,

My country is the reason I can call me, me.

Red, White, Black & Blue,

Years of hurt they can't undue,

But for what it's worth, they're trying hard

To heal the bruises, the cuts, and the scars.

We cannot change what has been done,

But America is a land of awesome.

Of beautiful plains, wide skies, and different faces,

A melting pot for all different races.

It is the birthplace of not only me,

But a beautiful and spectactular philosphy,

Democracy.

And I salute the flag, to the republic for which it stands,

One nation under love, acceptance, and open hands.
