Reflection

Drifting in a languid land
of singing prairies and crystalline lakes,
I wander toward a jeweled tree,
radiant sapphire and ruby in a halcyon dream.

The rose petals shed their fiery glows,
nestled comfortably in delicate hands
with soft sighs and mischievous murmurs
of magic and secrets, ancient, unseen

Oh mystical kingdom of the mind—
idyllic, intellectual royalty,
that sings to me a lullaby
of love and life, desires and dreams

And my thoughts write and rewrite themselves
in starry ink, on honeyed maple bark,
In remembrance of the past, the present,
and the future ahead, smiling for me.
