Reflective Curtain

Location

I stand behind this curtain,

Talking, in different tones, voices

I dare not peak out to see you

And for you to see me

I stand beind this curtain,

Laughing, in different ways

Trying not to expose myself

Trying not to expose you

I stand behind this curtain,

Smiling, lips quivering in the ache

Attempting to make the silence happy

To let you know, I am happy

To met myself know, I am happy

I stand behind the curtain,

The curtain made of reflective dust,

It's a mirror,

It's a reflection

It is me, trying to convince myself

I am happy.

I am You and you are me

Beings of the same silk cloth

Of the same guilts,

The same flaws

I dress to the nines and laugh loudly

To prove to you and I that I am alright

Because there is no sympathy for the sad

The unemotional, the disconnected.

There is no place for me

There is no place for me except the dark corners of solitude

That is why I stand behind the curtain
