Remembering 2016

It started quickly,

And when I looked back

It felt like I was opening up a time capsule.

It felt like nothing could possibly be like it was before.

And it felt real, because it was.

It was sad and it was life changing,

And after it started it seemed to linger.

Spring was drearier than I’d ever known.

It turned life to nothing within me.

And it felt real, because it was.

On, and on, and on, and on…

Summer went on without and glimpse of sun.

I felt grey on the inside.

I could find no closure with the extensive and stuffy days.

And it felt real, because it was.

And then, there was nothing but chaos.

It came in like a flood.

It left the people tattered and stripped away.

And death came to follow.

And it ended in pain…

And it felt real, because it was.
