Remembering You

Each day I will remember you

not as the tears in my grandfather’s ultramarine eyes

not as an uncomfortably itchy noiseless moment

not as the plush clouds forming a gray day

not as an empty silhouette

but as your gingery German parfüm

as a refreshing breeze tickling the Tahoe trees

as the light shining on a perching blue bird

as a joyous glimpse of your friendly smile

Each day I will remember you for you
