The role of an educator

grants power and authority,

Yet some treat students with

degrading inferiority

 

Your role is hard and I respect

your position

Because a role as a teacher is

a daily mission

 

Sometimes students do not care

for all that you do

when your efforts are exerted

without acknowledgement, too

 

But please keep in mind

that I am a person of thought,

and I am not responsible for

your problems that are fought

 

In a position of power as

an educator to others,

have enough respect for us without the

company of our mothers

 

I try to lead by example

by acting in a courteous way,

So please do not treat me based

on what another kid may do or say

 

The key is respect from both

teacher and peer,

but it starts with the adult to lead

and not wait to mirror
