The Rest Of Us

You're always taking and you're always breaking our hearts
You've always hurt us, you've always torn us apart
And we're wondering when it will stop
But you keep on taking and you keep on breaking our hearts

You can't say there's no effort on our part
We've tried so long, we've tried very hard
But the risk isn't worth the reward anymore
Was it even worth it at the start?

You must understand that we've got needs
We need to be loved, and you only deceive
We need some body to hold our hand
But you've never been that sort of man.

You're always taking and you're always breaking our hearts
You've always hurt us, you've always torn us apart
And we're wondering when it will stop
But you keep on taking and you keep on breaking our hearts

She's not as strong, shes more likely
To sway with promises
She'll go along
With you, she thinks that it's possible
That she can change
Who you are but she's wrong, it's been tried before

She doesn't know what she's doing here
Now she has shed as many tears
As the rest of us, the women from your prior years
She wasn't told, or maybe she just didn't hear
Didn't believe the warnings we whispered in her ears

You've worked, so hard
To try and hide just who you are
But you've left scars
On many women's broken hearts
Your history book, is tattered and splattered
with blood and tears
From the rest of us, the women from your prior years

You're always taking and you're always breaking our hearts
You've always hurt us, you've always torn us apart
And we're wondering when it will stop
But you keep on taking and you keep on breaking our hearts
