Rose

She was rose

or at least she tried to be

with all her might she tried to transform

but despite her trite she could never conform

there were forces in the way

much bigger than her

she was a small bud

not a single pedal had shown

while the other roses grew up above her

she was still down

she could never quite figure out

that even if she tried

She was not a rose

This little bud was a daisy you see

A daisy for which gods may see

a daisy not realizing the truth

the truth of conformity

Try as you might

you can not be what you want

you can only be what you are
