RUMPELSTILTSKIN

Once upon a time, a miller lied to the King
“My daughter can spin straw into gold” he uttered
His imagination turned wild: eyes glittering
“But what am I going to do?” she shuddered
The girl was locked up in a room!

Soon enough, came a little imp
“In return for that necklace, I grant you a favor”
She wouldn’t be spared: she would go limp
“I don’t care for this casual chain, please spin this pain”
The room dazzled, with the chain he disappeared in a zoom!

For two other nights this continued
“Take my ring, you little thing”
But on the third night, he refused
“I’ll take my gift when you marry the King”
Indeed, he’d asked for the first born of her womb!

Then the King marries the girl
But how can they live happily ever after?
The little elf could take anything in the world
She was pregnant: but she feared thereafter
The king was overjoyed, the wife wept in gloom!

The child is then born, with lovely little eyes
“Now give me what you promised”, the imp says
“Oh why oh why did father ever lie?”
“I’ll do anything you want”, she cries in a daze
“Tell the king the truth, then let’s see your love bloom!”

But the girl wasn’t so attracted to the truth
Her marriage, status and son were in danger
For Rumpelstiltskin’s favor she bore in her youth
Yet she couldn’t jeopardize a life in the hands of a stranger
With stark fear in her heart, she made her way to the lunchroom!

In a breath she told the King the reality
With a smile in his eyes, he brushed her tears away
He nodded to the imp with kind familiarity
“Your father was a liar, but I knew you wouldn’t betray!”
The King had known the truth, yet he’d become her groom.

“I wanted you to make the right choice my dear”
The girl now smiled as she’d made the right choice
She chose the truth: overcame her fears
“You’re my queen, my love”, she heard the King’s voice
Rumpelstiltskin smiled and made his way to his home: the mushroom!
