Scar Me

Location

We drift along the edges,
Passing by the world.
-A child draped in darkness-
We arrive at home,
And wrap ourselves in blankets.

Close both anguished eyes
Close it all up
And scar me

We push a button, absorb the blare,
All of it fiction, nothing's real.
-A fire glows, homes shrivel-
We stir up the coal,
And warm ourselves with cider.

Close both anguished eyes
Close it all up
And scar me

Red remains on stop signs,
Black, white, gray adorn the rest.
-Bloody hands tighten, slip, drop-
We climb into bed,
And fall into an easy sleep.

Close both anguished eyes
Close it all up
And scar me

We duck our heads
Can't look
Close both anguished eyes
Close it all up
And scar me

Scar me, make me feel
Pain, anguish, pity,
Compassion, empathy, and sympathy,
Love.
Let me in
And scar me.
