ivy leaves grow relentlessly

intertwined between fingers,

curling around my neck

with decay in full bloom,

I descend slowly

onto a porcelain floor

 

a note lies beside

my blank, staring eyes

a grocery list

with my name decapitated,

sliced through the middle,

with a pen

as stale as steam
