Self-satisfaction

Proverbs 14:16

16 A wise man fears and departs from evil,
But a fool rages and is self-confident.

Self-Satisfaction

Secure one goes to bed … tomorrow never comes

When I wake up it again will be today

Refreshed I will rise to beat the same old drum

Hoping that somewhere someone will pay

Happily driving on while speeding breaking laws

Ignoring all the signs on the highway of compassion

It seems to have no end and no damaging flaws

As I love this way of existing in my chosen illusion

Put on a suit on Sunday to cover wrinkled flesh

A little paint on the old barn and ready to go we are

Smiling gently and pious we will show our best

We even cleaned and vacuumed our own little cars

I’ll take a seat in the back in the house of God

A sign of humility for others to observe

The ones in front of me or they like it or not

Will be under my watchful eye: “Oh what a nerve”!

Sliding through the parking lot towards the front door

A smile placed carefully on this kisser mine

Self-made peace beyond description in the inner-core

I am a good example of religiousness sublime

The Lord is glad to have me: “The wretched man I am”

A priced possession secured by self for the Eternal

Grace long forgotten depending now on unknown mercy

As the Cross lost its power in the flesh’s love for temporal
