She Painted A Picture

She painted a picture

Charcoal on her hands

caressing the lines of his back.

The curves

Water to her brush

Over the white canvas

Blank and patient

Quiet

Waiting

She painted a picture

Rubies in the night

A feather against the stone

Marking

A turn of the head

A lean towards the abyss

One more step and they would -

She painted a picture

And as she froze the moment

Captured in her heart

Captured in the paint

Captured in his words

She waited for him to paint back.
