She Persisted

Thu, 02/23/2017 - 20:09 -- Shelene

She's a woman, what has she to say?

Truth be told, I could list off every issue, I could tell you all day.

I know how you think, I know how your mind works.

After all, being male has to have its perks.

But we want to work too, we want to help.

We need to join together to better our planet's health.

Let us speak, let us participate.

If you do so, I guarantee you will not be met with hate.

We have opinions too, we are all human.

This is not a competition, it's not about who will lose or win.

We all deserve the same opportunities, we all deserve a chance.

But until this happens, we will fill the streets with our beautiful chants.

We will march together, we will hold our heads high.

Together, we will fight from the early morning hours, until the moon rises at night.

We will support our sister until we have equality for all.

We will help her rise if she ever does fall.

You told her to sit down, but she resisted.

You told her she was done, nevertheless, she persisted.
