Shyness

Skin, bones, blood, flesh
A body

Inside, a mind that’s loving and kind
A girl who just wants to reach out and connect
Thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories
All anxious to be shared

But people scare her
She wants to talk to them but she’s afraid
Afraid of saying something wrong, of being misunderstood
Afraid that they won’t want to be friends

So she ignores them
Doesn’t make eye contact, doesn’t start conversations
And doesn’t ever fail at socializing
Because she never tries.
