Sing!

The slight lilt of the piano played out

Then the rumble of drums

The thrum of the guitar

And the tap of my fingers

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

A breath in...

Air cascading down my throat

To rest deep in my core

A breath out...

Pushed up through my chest

Mixing with the emotions pooling in my heart

Then the rich whole note filling the air with vibration.

Legato, long, soft, flowing like a stream out of my mouth

Then a sudden dip.

Staccato, power and movement punching the air

And a sudden waterfall of notes puring out of my mouth, the notes tumbling out one after the other

To rest softly on the ears of no one but myself

But

To me it was the sound of triumph and joy.

My soul dancing to the swirling notes, the rising and falling of the tempo, the riffs and runs as the notes tickle my throat

And then the last strum of the guitar

The quite rustle of the last beat

The glissando of the piano

And the last note of my voice

Ringing through the air and resonating deep within my soul.

Pure, untainted joy.
