Sleeping Trees

Location

The simple stillness of a cool fall day.

The smell of freshly rolled hay.

The oranges, reds, and browns that make the season go ‘round,

Are the things that complete my happy fall feeling.

The smell of pumpkin spice in lattes and pies.

Bill Cosby sweaters that fall to the thighs.

Knee high boots with socks twice as high,

Make me smile as I stare into the warm autumn sky.

As the leaves transform into a crisp golden hue and

The work pile grows higher than the sleeping trees

 I feel like can’t catch a break.

But then, I glance out my window to see all these beautiful things.

And I make it through another day.
