So We Walk...

Mon, 10/27/2014 - 21:01 -- _connor

It's around that time when the sun begins to set and the air is chilly and crisp.
My brother is restless and is determined to go outside before the sun shuts down for the day.
So we walk,
He clutches my hand with the grip of a loving 4-year-old, eager to press on down the road.
So we walk,
Leaves crunch under each step and different colors and sizes excite him as he begins his collection.
So we walk,
Crosswalks and cars stop us in our tracks, making us wait for our expedition to continue.
The vehicles provide distractions, but that doesn't stop a persistent young boy.
So we walk,
Creepy Halloween decorations lurk around every corner, but they don't frighten
his little blue eyes.
So we walk,
Runners and walkers pass us in a hurry to get to warmth awaiting them,
but we stroll at a pleasant pace, enjoying each others company.
So we walk,
Street lights provide a pathway home like a guide sent from above.
Time slipped away too fast it seems as we head towards home with ruby
red noses.
So we walk,
Our mother greets us with a warm embrace and gathers us inside to bundle up.
So we walk.
