Something

Everything?
Or nothing?

Everything is the way the flower blooms,

and the nothing is the way it shrivels and dies.

Everything is in the way that the wind howls,

and nothing is in the way the wind is still.

Everything is the color in the skies,

and the nothing is the darkness at night.

Everything is in black,

and the nothing is in white.

Because, in order to have everything,

you must have nothing, first.

And in order to have nothing,

you must have had everything, first.

So I will settle for something.

Something is that ‘okay’ in life.

Something is the way that the field of flowers sway.

Something is the way that the wind has its gentle caress.

Something is the way twilight sparkles with stars,

and the way that dawn shines with the beginnings of daylight.

So I will settle for something.

Because with something?
You may get a little bit of nothing,

but you also get a little bit of everything.
