I am that day

That day is me

It is the day I lost my world

Or the world lost me

Either way

I was gone

I am that day for many reasons

One being that I found myself

In tragedy and loss I saw who I was

Someone who believed in others

Someone who believed in me

Out of all the years and decades

And hours and minutes and seconds

It came down to one

The day that defined me

But it didn’t

It didn’t define me

What defined me was what became of it

Who I was because of it

I changed and I grew

It doesn’t matter what you may think this day was

Just that it’s important

And that I am who I am because of it
