Sonnet 1: I Thought I Knew the Road and Where it Leads
I thought I knew the road and where it leads;
I came upon the fork and felt so sure,
Until the trees in shade began to tease;
My confidence was shook, I closed the door.
My heart is closed and locked, I am afraid;
“Maybe” I say “This is a test of faith;”
Never before have I been so unmade
In this my proof of my unshaken faith.
A light but now I see through shady trees;
I stand and let my legs in bending walk
Now lead me towards to that who I must be;
I am not lost, my soul has broke the lock.
I give myself to my dear Lord freely,
“Thy will be done” is the motto for me.
