A Sonnet To Fencing
Thy love for thy foil reaches the sea,
Since love is like a brick, then it would be,
Far as the mountains, stretches it to thy,
And thy foil is thy love, by and by.
When failure then approaches thy foil,
Do not despair, but always stay loyal,
For thy foil will then keep you royal,
You will never have to writhe in toil.
When success then approaches thy foil,
Do not boast, for others will recoil,
And you will become loathéd and beaten,
Down you’ll fall to the bottom and be eaten.
So push away failure and pull success,
Thy love for thy foil always expressed.
