Sounds of a Death Fighter

Thu, 10/03/2013 - 21:11 -- mguzman

Location

A raise in pitch,

A gasp of air,

air rushing through teeth,

its all a language of fighting

No complete translation

Only the exchange of pain in our eyes

The feeling of uselessness

echoed with the cries for her dead daughter

The sentences of not leaving the hospital

Still fighting to transcribe from fiction to truth

Moaning at night

The fight to stay awake

It all echoed

the fight against death

I watched my grandma die over the span of 5 weeks in ICU. The pictures have left but the sounds of her cries grow strong each day.
