Speak Up

Maybe you didn't hear me clearly

I said I needed

help.

H-E-L-P

I was always taught to wait my turn,

it's rude to interupt is what my mama always said.

Let the adults finish talking

Why?

Is their need to gossip more important than my plea for

help?

How long must I wait?

Why was I taught to speak in the first place

if all am told now is to

shut up?

Teach me math

teach me science

at least then I might mean something.

Something,

the thing that I am not.

Nothing,

what I am

what they see

what they hear.

I raise my hand to talk, wait my turn,

after the rest of the kids speak freely.

I wait my turn, until there is no one there to listen.

Help.

H-E-L-P
