St. Patrick's Day. 2015.

Location

You wouldn’t guess its st. patrick’s day

Not with all these faces

Frowning in stasis

Tears in our eyes

We just keep going

No recognition for one another

Only stress in our minds

And clouds in our heads

Trying to keep up

We can’t even speak

Its finals week

You wouldn’t guess its st. patrick’s day

We’re walking straight forward, heads down

Eyes on the ground

Thinking only of tests

I thought college would be different

Learning to learn not

Learning to test

But that’s all it comes down to

One big looming test

Designed for our understanding

Rather than our test handling

But its still all that matters

Just one single test

You wouldn’t guess its st. patrick’s day

Almost no one’s wearing green

No kisses are passed (chocolate or otherwise)

No good luck clovers or cheery smiles

Grace decorations around the halls

We almost forget the date

We only know its Tuesday

Tuesday of finals week

We’re barely holding on

You wouldn’t guess its st. patrick’s day

But it’s finals week for sure

We’ve gotta keep goin

Counting down, just three days left

You wouldn’t guess its st. patrick’s day

Or maybe you would

Maybe you’re the one smiling

The keeper of the gold

At the end of the rainbow

I think I’ll be there too

In a couple of days or more

When final’s week is over

I’ll have crossed the rainbow too.
