Staircase of Change

Location

One last chance

To defeat, to conquer, to win

One last breath

To save, to struggle, to survive

Two more words

Be safe, Be kind, Be resourceful

Two more actions

Love and Harmonize, Help and Give, Play and Laugh

Three last visions

Of ashes, bodies, empty streets but for the dust

Three last hopes

Of a world with no war, no regrets, no pain

To wish for the impossible

This wish comes in three complete steps.

I know, because I favor them each day.

I know, because I create them each day.

You must acknowledge

What there is to be done.

You must say

What there is to be said.

You must dream

What there is to be dreamt.

I acknowledge

That the world is in pieces

Families left for dead in the street

Scattered, broken, torn apart

By a war no one seems to have control over

I say

That we must end this undefeatable force

Of horror, destruction, death and despair

By joining together as a community

That has been spread oceans apart

I dream

Of the day we can join together

As a people united across oceans

Not by our freedom, our culture, our faith

But by our pain, our loss

For we all have lost

And so few have gained

And so I must acknowledge, speak, and dream

For the day where we all gain

And none will lose

I dream, I speak, I confess

That the change in this world

Comes not from fighting and defeating

But from loving and sharing

And that is what I wish to change in the world
