Started From the Bottom, Now We're Here

Location

We started from the bottom

In elementary school

We believed in becoming

Firefighters and astronauts

We still played outside

And cried at bedtime

We believed those big kids

Were the coolest in the world

The playground was the most

Popular place you could be

In middle school

We believed that we

Should be treated like adults

Fun times with friends

Were all that seemed important

We believed we were too old

To Trick-or-Treat

Or have Mom go with us everywhere

Those big kids were still so awesome

We would be just like them someday

Finally, we made it to freshman year

We believed in serious relationships

And making the most of our lives

The teachers were the enemy

And the seniors could do no wrong

We believed high school would

Never come to an end

And that graduation was light years away

We were dying for time to pass more quickly

Now, as seniors

We believe that we are still children

And that all of this is not really happening

Kindergarten and middle school

Dont seem like such a bad place to be

We believe in ourselves

And where we are going

The memories are all

We can take with us

Now we're here.
