Sticks and Stones

They say that sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.

Not where you can see at least, they leave me silenced in the pain.

I could say something, but I don't.

Its like I am in the ocean stranded without a boat.

You're on the fancy yacht and all you do is gloat.

You think you're so much better

while I'm struggling to stay afloat.

It's not that we're different or the same by any means,

it's that you and I have different thoughts for all the in betweens.

You don't like what I say and sometimes that's okay,

that doesn't give you the right however, to hurt me in every way.

Your ideas may just be words put on a screen,

with that said, they make me want to scream.

I'm surrounded by sharks now, ready to attack,

you don't care though, you see me and sit back.

Others go by, they stare but don't care

They ignore the problem that is really there

Someone comes by and changes their mind

They throw out a raft that happens to fall short,

it hits a shark and aggravates them more,

but they tried, oh well, don't care anymore and they head back to port

As they leave me all alone and wet, and start to head to shore,

it begins to turn to night then proceeds to start to pour

I've given up, I've fought the fight, and want to fight no more.

I'm cold and wet and tired; I won't try anymore,

for when I do I then realize that this is a never ending war.

I gave up a while ago and still am feeling trapped

I cannot seem to find just how to adapt.

The sharks are closing in on me, and the water begins to rise,

I yell out what I want to say as I'm facing my demise,

Goodbye to all the kind hearts, the awful ones as well

You've taught me how to see myself living in this hell

The water goes above my head and the sharks start to attack

Its hard to say my final thought was no one had my back

They all saw what happened, they didn't try and make it stop

Because all they wanted for themselves was to come out of this on top.

So think about what you're going to say before you're pressing send

because that little message or little word could make someone else's life end
