Subject to Customs

A young girl living in a old world
Subject to customs
Each day her mind is running, jumping, skipping, and tumbling
Looking, searching for the broken joy that got away
A young girl living in a old world
Subject to customs
Each night she dreams
Wondering of things...things that can not be spoke of
Things that can not be judged on
Things that can not be thought of
The things she thinks of are the simplest of things, but some of the hardest to speak of
A young girl living in a old world
Subject to customs
She wonders one night of a life without customs
A life outside the status quo
A life of expression
A life of Freedom
A young girl living in a old world
Subject to customs
She wakes the next day expecting the same
Until she saw a chance of hope
Not the ordinary hope that falls into place
The kind of hope that shows its face
She saw a young girl living in a old world
The girl was living a life without customs
A life that she chosen
Speaking of things that needed to be spoken
Searching for the joy that was broken
That night she thought of things...things of change
Changes of Freedom
Equality in the workplace
A dress being short without the worry of the outcome
Expression
Freedom for our sisters across seas
Freedom for young girls subject to trafficking
Freedom for you and me
I am a young girl living in a old world
Subject to customs
Seeking Freedom
Making a change
For we live in a old world
Subject to customs
That need to be spoken
So changes can be made
For the weak
For the broken
