The Surest Salvation

Location

The directions are infinite:

A compass without bounds.

My mind speaks to me

Telling me to follow logic

To follow the set conventions

For straying is sure death.

Yet my heart sings

A song of a tongue with which I am unfamiliar

But somehow

I know exactly what it says.

Both are a trap

Set by the finest of hunters.

One step with my mind

Is an arrow through my heart.

One step with my heart

Is a bullet shattering my skull.

Half steps are my only salvation.

Half steps take

Half my heart

Half my mind

And all of my soul.
