Tainted

Tainted

Like a butterfly, she floats along the rigid hills,

Rays of sun

Shine through her fluorescent wings.

She's heading south.

The sun lowers to rest

Darkness falls

Pastels seep into her wings

Her innocence is tainted.

Her wings no longer float

They settle for a ride

Down a lonely road.

Losing her soul along the way,

To a shattered illusion.

Through a field of,

Bourbon and whiskey

Coated with

Marijuana and oxycodone.

Her wings begin to weigh her down.

Taking a toll on her petite body.
