Tattoos

I have always loved tattoos

gorgeous art swirling through

one’s existence

But i have never

worn ink beautifully

Scars torn open

tiny needles that have

ripped apart

alabaster flesh.

Words and images crash

partial conversations

flashes of memory

I am covered

in trauma

I wear my burden

with a patient smile

with hunched shoulders

and malicious eyes

I have always loved tattoos

art creating

one’s existence.
