Ten Shades Women

Location

1. My beauty sheds lightning all over the soundtrack of New York

The way my body sways as I walk

The talk my mind provides to my lips

My hips dipped and nourished in a jar of gold ensembles

2. I am moon

New and cold

Yet worth every bit of winter

That murder the symphony of their skin after the last leaf of fall

I love that

The sun sets just to see me awaken

I cannot be mistaken

3. Black greatness

Indeed

It's shown and delivered at the surface of my plateaued skin

Every in between of my shine underlines the rise of a brand new universe

A brand new miracle

A whole new nation

Dances in the heaven of my sky

4. My bones

Home to fine dined scriptures

Are the best part of me

They show

That even though words may break and scratch

They go out their way to attack

I remain America after the pain

5. I always had gold mining at the set of my smile

And mineral tinted soul drawn by the Picasso palms of god

They may define me with pacified judgment

But I am not their idea of me

I am earth between day and night

Decorated in a thousand years of ancestors that hibernated your smile

I am not the humiliation of my back then history

I am the now

They speak of so unclearly

I'm  late nights in the best cities that ever existed

Like Paris

With its Eiffel planted romance
Grand boulevard charm

Or Rome

With its beautiful squares

I am a masterpiece

Haiti's own

6. I am a man’s prayer when those nights play him lonely

The true whisper of a good women

And a good women never goes unheard

7. At age 16,

I faced fire and war in the same rib

That was the same day

I seen myself as queen and survivor liberating the same throne

8. My echoes do not  go unheard

And my siren songs melt eyelids

And the ricochet of pain bow down to my name

9. At 12,

My mother taught me that mortal women

Can dance to such ugly addiction

And still make it out alright

The fight that wrote love letters across my chest

Had me smell of bravery

The love I owned for myself marked me as beautiful as sky

10. My flaws are see through

But I just see through these flaws

And see why I fall down history

As the greatest flawed women to breathe in gravity
