These Words

These words that boil inside you are strong

By nature, to hold them imprisoned is wrong

Speak raw, speak power, speak truth, speak you,

Your poem, your story, your song.

Do it for heart or do it for fun

Do it for the man who just lost his son

Who’s voiceful weight might have weighed a near ton

But whose life was only just one

Do it for her or do it for him,

Shoot out your love with your words and then

Wrap her in poems, your scribbles, your scraps

‘Til your hearts are closer within

Here comes the end so I hope you have learned

That a life unspoken is a life unearned

Of triumphs and joys, ventures and wins

Of knowledge put forth and returned.
