The Thing About Bathrooms

Sometimes I find comfort in bathrooms
They're places of solitude and 3 a.m. thoughts
Where I sometimes finally remember what I forgot I forgot
Sometimes I go to the bathroom because I feel alone when I don't want to be
makes the walls closing in feel like arms wrapped around me as I sit with my chin on my knees, arms around my legs
Sometimes it's the only safe place to cry
Sometimes anywhere else makes me feel too exposed
The cold tile on the floor feels like a cold glass of water when water is momentarily unaccessible
Bathrooms can tell you a lot about someone
Look at how it's designed, the unique art you might find,
Or the color of the towels
But be careful because the faucet sometimes lies
