In Thirty Years

In Thirty Years

In 30 years

Where do you see yourself?

Ask the general youth of America,

many would reply,

with a well established career and living well off,

married and some even parents

All of their dreams come true

Now ask that same youth, with ideal visions of tomorrow

How will you achieve your dreams

What have you done to prepare yourself

Chosen an university

For that degree

To give you that career

What about the high school classes you have taken,

the grades you have earned,

do they guarantee an acceptance?

Instead of checking

Facebook and Instagram and Twitter

Instead of spending hours on hair and make up

Every morning, every day

Try focusing on school

Read, study, pay attention in class, try your best on all your homework

What you are doing

Here and now

Matters

In 30 years

No one will know

 What your hair looked like

What jeans you wore

What you do

here and now

decides what the next 30 years will be like for you

here and now

decides what your future holds

four years to decide a lifetime.
