Thoughts for Tomorrow

If somebody were to ask me what I thought of the world today,

What would be the first thing that I would say?

Would I quote a singer and say, 'The world is a cancer"

Or say what I think, that it could be better?

Would I shed tears for the children that go through hell,

The ones who keep silent and never tell?

Would I say that society is teaching us wrong,

Showing us loose morals to build ourselves upon?

Would I talk about teen suicide and how no one is trying

To help the children who are quietly crying?

Who would I blame for all that's gone bad?

Was it the mother, the brother, the sister, the dad?

Was it the teacher who saw but never did a thing,

Or the mean girls who told us we couldn't sing?

Was it the boy down the street who spread all the lies,

Was it their fault for believing and saying their goodbyes?

Or was it my fault for trying to fit in,

For wanting for a second to be normal like them?

I think the words that would come out of my mouth

Would be without a single doubt

The words no one is bothering to say,

That the world is terrible, but tommorow's a new day.

That we still have the power to change what goes on

That even though yesterday is away and gone,

We can still help the children who don't make a sound,

And we can teach the young morals to help them be proud

When they look back twenty years from now,

And see that they turned out just well.

That we still have the chance to talk down that teen

And show them that life has so much meaning.

That even though they're scared, we're scared too.

That fear is the only thing that can make us lose.

And that hope can build us up if we just hold on,

So give life a chance and keep going strong.

As for who is to blame, well I guess us all.

We have the power to change, get involved,

Yet everday passes and many still don't.

Instead they curse the Gods, the unknown

And they wonder how much better the world could be.

Stop wondering, go out there and see.
