"Through the Eyes of a Wallflower" a sonnet
Haley Ann’s laugh takes me to Mom and Pap’s;
Reminiscent joy of community.
Strong-will, killer boots, crooked teeth with gaps-
I see windows of opportunity.
Sharing the love for pink, not quite girly.
My dear Haley- an individual.
Beautiful Haley, tried her hair curly.
Women’s standards becoming visual.
Some girls got promotions, others did not.
One girl in black, set apart from the rest.
Prejudgments left this girl distraught.
It breaks my heart they never see her best.
For the girl in black? No room to expand.
Lennon said, “Don’t hate what you don’t understand”.
