Time Fades Like Summer Night

Windows down

The wind blowing my hair out of my face

My favorite song on the radio

Sunset

The adrenaline of taking a fast curve

Or accelerating down a hill

My smile so wide

It splits my face

My cheeks hurt

My throat begins to burn

As I sing as loud as I can along to the radio

Sharp turns

Orange skies and open roads

Dust behind me

Orange fades to blue and purple

Slowly to black

Diamonds start to dot

The black velvet sky

The music turns soft

I slow down as the car pulls into a field

Creaking car doors and cricket chirps

Soft blankets on dry green grass

Cool breeze

Faint headlights from the highway

A warm fire

Hot chocolate

Marshmallows and graham crackers

Time fades

Like the fire

Into embers

And eventually

Into dark
