Time is not of the essence

Tick tock, tick tock.
You look at the time, but where does it go?
It's really quite a shock.
Sometimes it's fast, and sometimes it's slow.

When it comes to relationships, life, or death,
Why is "timing" such a big deal?
We sit and we count our breaths,
When really we should just stop and kneel.

Animals do not keep a schedule or care of the time.
Somehow humans are so obssessed with it.
We're scared and we always "need" things to be prime.
But why worry? We were put here with spirit.

Someone once said that if we wait to be ready,
We're always going to be waiting.
We wait for our life to feel peaceful and steady,
And we study, scrutinize, judge, and begin rating.

The world is beautiful, abundant, and charming.
But we wait, wait, wait, then wait some more.
Then something happens, something alarming.
Then your next step is to walk out the door.

We're never ready for things in our life,
But we have to move on or we'll get left behind.
Although sometimes there's troubles and strife,
We have to keep going; we push and we grind.

I will make better mistakes tomorrow.
We are always growing, changing, learning.
So I refuse to sit in pity and sorrow.
I will push on, my soul always yearning.

I will never be ready to face each day,
For life has it's own agenda and mine does not matter to it.
The important thing is that I have a say.
My say is that I will never quit.

Time is just a thing, and the day is what you make it.
Little by little, your days turn to years.
To know this does not require much wit.
You are the captain of your vessel, all you need to do is steer!

Every once in a while stop your climb.
Sit and soak in the beauty of life,
Forget the deadlines, schedules, and time.
The weight will be lifted and so will the strife.
