The Tiniest Family Members

Little feet, approaching fast.

"You're here! You're here!" is all I hear
and two different sets of arms wrap themselves around me.

Big smiles all around.

They have no worries,
they're just happy to see me,
and I, they.

Little children who ask a thousand and one different questions.
They want to know where I was.
What was I doing there?
Can I play a game,
or read a book?
And of course,
they ask about candy,
and if they can have any.

I hug them, "Go ask Mommy, you can have some if she says yes."

I watch them take off,
as fast as they can-
and I can't help but think that being an aunt is just the best.
