Tonight

If tonight I found myself missing

I disappeared without a trace

You’d spend your nights wishing

I was home warm and safe

If tonight I took my last breath

you would cry and gasp for air

You would blame God for my death

And you would scream it wasn’t fair

But tonight I lie awake

My sense of hope missing

Despite every breath I take

My insides are decaying

Yet you turn away

And you won’t look back

Until my final day

When my insides turn black

There are systems I don’t understand

There are angels who have seen hell

Because they couldn't find salvation

In a world that turns the other way
